Job summary

Impact Food Group is seeking a Cook Manager for Stranton Primary School in the Tees Valley. You will lead a small kitchen team to provide fresh, seasonal meals to students during term time, with a 28.75-hour week and a 39-week year.

Responsibilities include managing the kitchen, planning menus, stock control, and maintaining high food-safety standards. The role offers daytime hours, a uniform, a free meal on shift, and opportunities for training and progression.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a kitchen, ideally in schools or high-volume catering environments.
• Skilled in preparing fresh, seasonal food.
• Strong people management and team leadership skills.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with pride in maintaining high standards.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day running of the school kitchen.
• Lead, motivate, and develop the catering team.
• Prepare and serve fresh, seasonal meals for the school.
• Plan menus, manage stock, and ensure compliance with food hygiene and safety standards.
• Liaise directly with onsite clients and stakeholders.
• Ensure service runs smoothly and efficiently.
