Job summary

HCL is seeking a Cook Manager at Lower Farm Academy School. The role is 27.5 hours per week with no weekends or late shifts, and is term-time only, offering school holidays off.

You will lead the kitchen team, prepare nutritious meals, manage budgets and stock, ensure strict food safety and hygiene standards, and foster a high-performing team to deliver a quality dining experience. Ideal candidates will hold a Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate (required) and preferably NVQ Level 2/3.

Qualifications

• Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate is required.
• NVQ Level 2/3 is highly desirable.
• Experience leading a kitchen team and managing budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Prepare and deliver fresh, nutritious meals.
• Oversee stock control, ordering and budget management.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and health & safety regs.
• Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control.
• Manage allergens awareness and cater for special dietary requirements.
• Build positive relationships with staff, students and the school community.
• Maintain records (e.g. HACCP, temperature checks, audits).
• Develop and inspire the team to grow and thrive.
