Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking a school cook in Coventry to prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals for pupils and staff. The role requires following menus, dietary requirements, and maintaining strict food hygiene standards.

You will work 37 hours per week under PAYE, with DBS checks and full PPE provided. Experience in busy kitchen environments and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a Cook, Chef or School Cook.
• Ability to prepare and cook meals in a busy kitchen.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety standards.
• Ability to follow menus, recipes and dietary requirements.
• Good organisation and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of food storage, preparation and kitchen cleanliness.
• NVQ in Catering / Professional Cookery or equivalent qualification – essential.
• Enhanced DBS with Children’s Barred List check – essential.
• Previous cooking or catering experience.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals for pupils and school staff.
• Follow menus and prepare food according to dietary requirements.
• Ensure meals are served on time and presented appropriately.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Monitor food stock, supplies and deliveries.
• Ensure food is stored and prepared safely.
• Work alongside other kitchen staff to ensure an efficient catering service.
