Job summary

Palmer & Howells is seeking a dedicated and energetic Catering Assistant to join our friendly school kitchen team. You will assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals to pupils and staff, emphasising quality, safety and teamwork.

This part-time role offers 22.5 hours per week over 34 weeks per year, at £13 per hour. Training in Food Safety Level 2 is available, with ongoing development and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• A versatile, outgoing and highly collaborative approach to work.
• Interest in food preparation and cooking with a desire to learn.
• Basic knowledge of Health & Safety principles; training provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with kitchen and school team to prepare and serve high-quality lunches.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen following Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policies.
• Work efficiently to meet service demands during lunch periods.
• Prepare and complete food service requirements for school events and occasions.
• Deliver innovative, fresh food and top-notch service to pupils and staff.
