Job description

Overview

Adecco are currently looking for a number of School Kitchen Assistants to work for our clients across Bolton on a casual basis.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the preparation of simple meals and snacks (e.g. sandwiches, salads, baked goods)
• Serving food to students and staff in a polite and efficient manner
• Operating the till and handling cash/card payments accurately
• Ensuring food hygiene and safety standards are maintained at all times
• Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and surfaces regularly
• Washing up and maintaining cleanliness in the dining area
• Assisting with stock rotation and checking deliveries
• Reporting any maintenance or safety issues to the kitchen supervisor
• Supporting the cook or chef with basic food prep tasks
• Wearing appropriate protective clothing (e.g. apron, hairnet, gloves)
• Following school policies and procedures, including allergy and dietary requirements
• Helping with setting up and clearing away before and after meal service

Requirements

• Food hygiene knowledge (Level 2 Food Safety Certificate is preferred)
• Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment
• Experience using a till
• Basic numeracy skills (especially for operating a till and handling money)
• Ability to follow health and safety and food safety regulations
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical fitness to carry out manual tasks (e.g. lifting, standing for long periods)
• Reliability and punctuality
• Friendly and approachable manner, especially when interacting with children
