Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking an immunisation nurse for a three-month placement with Vaccination UK, supporting the school-aged immunisation service commissioned by NHS England. The role focuses on vaccinating schoolchildren, mainly on-site at schools and in community clinics, including IM and nasal vaccines.

You will travel between sites, aim to vaccinate 20–25 children per hour during flu season, and ensure accurate record-keeping, safeguarding, and consent processes while

Qualifications

• Nursing or midwifery qualification and active professional registration.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Understanding of immunisation schedules and consent principles.
• Proficiency in IM injections and Cold Chain compliance.
• Good IT skills and clear written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Vaccinate school children at 20 to 25 an hour.
• Administer IM and nasal vaccinations.
• Carry out Gillick competency assessments and obtain verbal consent.
• Manage consent forms and contact guardians.
• Respond to clinical enquiries from parents, guardians and staff.
• Report and process clinical incidents, near misses and complaints.
• Ensure safeguarding reporting is prompt and thorough.
• Keep records up to date in line with policy.
• Participate in supervision and staff development.
• Travel between sites to sessions.
• Support leadership and attend team meetings.
