Job summary

Randstad Education in Lewisham is seeking a proactive HR Officer to join the school Operations team. The role will cover end-to-end recruitment, staff inductions, HR documentation, and compliance with employment law to support a positive learning environment.

You will work in a school setting with Monday–Friday 8:00 am–4:00 pm. The successful candidate will start ASAP and work closely with senior leaders and the school's external HR service provider, with potential for a permanent role.

Qualifications

  • Enhanced child DBS on update service or willingness to get one.
  • 2 recent professional references.
  • Previous HR experience, preferably within a school environment.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Focus on impact and outcomes of HR activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented approach.
  • Right to work in the UK (Essential)

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including advertising, interviewing, and selection.
  • Coordinate and conduct staff inductions, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Prepare and process HR documentation, including contracts, letters, and reports.
  • Stay informed about changes in employment legislation and ensure school policies align.
  • Coordinate HR review meetings with senior leaders and external HR service provider.
  • Administer HR-related documentation such as offer letters, contracts, leavers and amendments.
  • Provide initial advice to senior leaders and line managers on sickness absence responsibilities.
  • Administer and support dealing with specific HR cases.
  • Support sickness absence casework administration.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and contribute to policy development.

The school timings are from Monday-Friday and 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and this role is available to start ASAP.

When you work in this school your responsibilities will include :

  • Provide initial advice to senior leaders and line managers in relation to their responsibilities for managing sickness absence
  • Administer and support dealing with specific HR cases
  • Support with the administration of sickness absence casework
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and contribute to policy development
