A healthcare organization in the UK is seeking a School Health Nurse to work within the 0-16 child and families team in Southampton. The role involves delivering the Healthy Child Programme, promoting health and wellbeing, and collaborating with schools and primary care. Ideal candidates have strong assessment and health promotion skills. Support for training will be provided as needed.
The role of the School Health Nurse is to work within the 0-16 child and families team to help deliver the Healthy Child Programme to children, young people, and their families within Southampton. This involves assessments to identify health issues and providing support to address the needs of the child or young person.
Responsibilities include promoting the development, implementation, and evaluation of care programmes within the defined client group and their families. The nurse will work in partnership with schools to encourage parental involvement in the life of the school and its pupils.
The role also involves offering support, guidance, and line management to multidisciplinary teams, particularly within Education, and promoting the School Nursing/Health Visiting service within a diverse multi-agency environment.
The nurse will collaborate with Management and Primary Care to contribute to the achievement of Trust targets.
We seek motivated practitioners to support the Public Health Nursing Service in Southampton City, working to promote health and wellbeing for children and young people aged 5-16 years and their families across community settings, including schools. The service covers children in mainstream and home education, and the ability to travel between settings is essential.
Experience in school nursing services, health and development reviews, screening, immunisations, health promotion, and tailored support is desirable but not essential. Support for undertaking the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) course in School Nursing is available for the right candidate.
