Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and self-organized dedicated nurse to join our school health team.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will have excellent communication, IT, organizational, and clinical skills to support children, young people, parents, professionals, and multi-agencies.

The role involves delivering the Healthy Child Programme to the school-age population within Sefton, sharing public health information and interventions. You will also manage a safeguarding caseload, addressing complex public health issues.

Training and Support

A thorough preceptorship/induction program will be provided, including regular supervision and safeguarding support.

About the Service

The Children’s Service offers support to children, young people, and families through screening, developmental reviews, and guidance to promote healthy choices, aligned with The Healthy Child Program 0–19 years (DH, 2023). The Community Staff Nurse will work mainly within the School Nursing team to promote health and reduce inequalities.

Responsibilities
  • Support delivery of the Healthy Child Program 5-19, up to age 25 for SEN children/young people, using evidence-based practice and the Framework for Assessment (DH 2002).
  • Collaborate with voluntary and statutory partner agencies to achieve positive health outcomes.
  • Potentially have responsibility for designated schools as the named health professional.
  • Assess care needs, implement, and evaluate care programs for children, young people, and families.
  • Be aware of immunization programs and support delivery during disease outbreaks.
