Job summary

Barking Abbey School is seeking a committed Site Officer and General Handy person to work across our Longbridge Road or Sandringham Road campuses in Barking, East London. You will join a team of six staff and help ensure the environment is safe, well maintained and comfortable for students, staff and visitors.

The role requires practical maintenance tasks, DIY experience, and good communication and organisational skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance or facilities support.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Willingness to work across two campuses and flexible shifts.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the security and maintenance of school buildings.
• Be responsible for undertaking repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Be responsible for performing security checks for the buildings in their care.
• Oversee the cleaning of the school site.
• Carry out caretaking and manual handling duties as required to ensure the needs of the school are met.
• Comply with safeguarding and welfare of children policies.
