Job summary

Manpower is seeking an experienced School Facilities Manager for a primary school in East London. The role involves taking immediate ownership of the site, managing day-to-day maintenance, and ensuring a safe and well-presented estate for around 330 pupils.

You will oversee safety compliance, coordinate contractors, and lead on risk assessments and site operations with a hands-on, independent approach.

Qualifications

• Evidence of experience as Facilities Manager or similar within a school.
• DBS check (Enhanced) or willingness to obtain immediately.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day management and maintenance of premises.
• Ensure safety, security, compliance, and operational readiness.
• Open and close the school site as required.
• Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance with contractors.
• Monitor compliance records for Fire Safety, Legionella, Asbestos, PAT, Health & Safety.
• Carry out regular site inspections and risk assessments.
• Support cleaning and site staff.
• Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies.
• Maintain high standards of grounds and buildings.
