Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking School Crossing Patrols for multiple sites across the county. The role involves supervising school crossings during designated times to ensure children's safety, with two shifts per day and a 35-minute total time per shift.

The position is permanent with term-time style hours (5 hours 50 minutes per week). Applicants must be aged 18 or over and able to work outdoors in all weathers, maintaining safety and reporting incidents as required.

Qualifications

• Be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions.
• Have a good understanding of road use and traffic awareness, road safety awareness and how stopping distance of vehicles will change with speed and road conditions.
• Able to use/handle equipment necessary for this role (lollipop).
• Have knowledge of Safeguarding and child protection issues.
• Be an excellent time keeper, be reliable and have the ability to work without supervision.

Responsibilities

• Stop traffic and operate the crossing for children and adults wishing to use the service using the stop sign and wearing the full uniform.
• Carry out the council's policy with regard to the service including Health & Safety procedures and reporting of incidents and accidents.
