Medway Council is seeking a School Crossing Patrol to assist children and pedestrians at a designated crossing during set hours. You will move to the road middle, wait for traffic gaps, and escort children safely across the road using a stop sign.

Jobbeschreibung

We are looking for a School Crossing Patrol to ensure the safety of children, and other pedestrians, crossing the road at a designated point between specified times. The discharge of these duties must not be to the detriment of the welfare of other road users.

To carry out the Council’s policy with regard to the SCP Service which includes Health and Safety Procedures.

To use all uniform and equipment provided for the safety of yourself, children and all other members of the public, especially when stopping traffic on the Highway.

Maintain control over children who are awaiting your instructions to cross. When children need to cross the road, the post holder will walk to the middle of the road, wait for a gap in traffic and then escort the children across the road.

Report any problems or difficulties to the Manager of the SCP Service.

The post holder will report any concerns regarding children’s behaviour to the appropriate person.

The post holder may be required to write a report about any incidents.

The post holder will be required to use a stop sign.

The post holder will be required to communicate with members of the public and may be exposed to verbal abuse.

There is a need for concentrated sensory attention in short periods.

The post holder will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Career Progression Frameworks (CPF) have been introduced for all roles at Medway Council. These frameworks provide a mechanism for employees to take ownership of their development within their post and be rewarded accordingly. The salary you will be offered will be at level A. There will be further opportunity once in post to progress from level A to B, and B to C.

The person specification of a job profile is split into three levels: Level A details the essential criteria that all applicants must be able to demonstrate through their application and interview. Level B details the developed competencies that an individual who is practised in this role would be able to demonstrate and will be a progression of knowledge, experience and skills from level A. Level C requires the highest level of competence and applicants would need to fully meet and demonstrate all aspects of the job profile, including qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience.

We are seeking a School Crossing Patrol to join the team at level A. This is the entry point of the role, so you will need to be able to demonstrate the relevant knowledge, experience and skills to get you started, but you will be supported to develop in your role through induction, probation and a supportive Performance Appraisal and Career Conversation. All elements of level A listed within the person specification are essential. Through your induction you will be introduced to the Career Progression Framework (CPF), which will help you to identify your areas of strength and any development needs.
