Job description
Overview

The School Crossing Patrol Attendant (SCPA) is responsible for ensuring children cross the road safely at the designated crossing patrol point. The SCPA encourages appropriate behaviour from the children as they approach and leave the crossing point. The SCPA raises children's awareness of road safety and potential hazards.

The SCPA is based at Cunningsburgh Primary School in Cunningsburgh, serving Quarff, Fladdabister and Cunningsburgh in the South Mainland of Shetland. The school provides education from Early Years up to P7 and is managed by a Head Teacher.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure children cross safely at the designated crossing patrol point.
  • Encourage appropriate behaviour from children as they approach and leave the crossing.
  • Raise children's awareness of road safety and potential hazards.
Additional Information
  • The grade of this post is E.
  • Rate of pay shown in the advert includes Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4808 per hour.
  • Permanent part-time post for 5.0 hours per week, 39.00 weeks per year plus 6.24 weeks (pro rata) paid holiday to be taken during school holidays.
  • Working pattern: 1 hour per day, Monday to Friday, with 0.5 hours in the morning and 0.5 hours after school.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update.
  • A relocation package does not apply to this post.
  • We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland.
