Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a School Counsellor at Liberton High School on a fixed-term contract to 29 June 2027. This role forms part of the citywide initiative to provide counselling as a key part of mental health and wellbeing in Edinburgh high schools, with counsellors also supporting pupils in associated primary schools.

• Fully qualified counsellor registered with COSCA or BACP.
• Post is regulated work with PVG requirements and safeguarding.
• Overseas criminal record checks may be required for candidates with recent overseas experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver counselling to pupils aged 10–18 within the secondary school and linked primary schools.
• Work with the school team and the School Counselling Service Team Leader to ensure supervision and delivery.
• Operate within the GIRFEC wellbeing framework and citywide counselling strategy.
