A local council in Scotland is seeking a motivated School Counsellor to join its team. You will provide essential support to improve the mental health of young people aged 10-18. The role requires relevant counselling qualifications, a driving license, and satisfactory pre-employment checks. This is a fixed-term position until October 2027, offering an opportunity to make a significant impact in the community.

Applications are invited for the post of School Counsellor. Successful candidates will work within the school counselling team offering counselling to young people aged between 10-18 years old.

You must have a current driving license and be able to provide a car, for which appropriate travel expenses will be paid. We invite applicants from all areas of Aberdeenshire.
This post is fixed term post until October 2027 and is a 47 week per year contract.

This post has a minimum requirement of two references, one of which must be your current or most recent employer.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
It is Aberdeenshire Council’s procedure that applicants for vacancies of this nature require to attend an assessment centre as well as interview.
Please note, assessment centres and interviews may be carried out on different dates which will be confirmed in due course.
