Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a dedicated School Cook for a partner trust in the Retford area. This part-time, long-term role offers the chance to prepare nutritious school meals across multiple sites with flexible hours and immediate start.

You will support food preparation, maintain high kitchen hygiene and follow food safety procedures. Experience in cleaning is a bonus, and a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is desirable.

Qualifications

• Food Hygiene Certificate / Level 2 Food Safety desirable.
• Experience as School Cook or Catering Assistant or in a similar kitchen environment.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety regulations and safe food preparation.
• Ability to prepare nutritious meals while keeping a clean, organised kitchen.
• Willingness to work across different school sites; cleaning experience is advantageous.

East Midlands/ contract / £12.71 - 14.00 per hour

Are you an experienced School Cook with a passion for preparing nutritious and delicious meals for children?

Do you have experience working in a school kitchen, catering environment or food preparation setting?

Are you a reliable and flexible individual who enjoys working as part of a team and is happy to support with cleaning duties when required?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a school trust in the Retford area, who are looking to appoint a School Cook to support their catering provision across schools within the trust. The schools are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and positive environment for pupils and staff, with a focus on delivering nutritious meals throughout the school day.

The trust is looking to take on a dedicated School Cook on a part-time, long-term basis, with an immediate start available. The successful School Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving school meals, supporting food preparation, maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene and ensuring food safety procedures are followed, with the flexibility to work across different schools within the trust. Experience in cleaning or a willingness to assist with general cleaning duties would be a bonus.

The successful School Cook will have:

• A Food Hygiene Certificate / Level 2 Food Safety qualification is desirable
• Previous experience working as a School Cook, Catering Assistant or in a similar kitchen environment
• Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety regulations and safe food preparation
• The ability to prepare nutritious meals while maintaining a clean and organised kitchen
• A flexible and adaptable approach, with the willingness to work across different school sites
• A positive, reliable and hardworking attitude, with cleaning experience considered an advantage
