Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to help prepare high-quality vegetarian meals in a lovely independent boarding school environment. The role involves food prep, maintaining cleanliness, and working as part of a team. Applicants need to be able to transport themselves due to the location. This position offers flexible hours between Friday and Sunday, starting ASAP, with a pay rate of up to £14 per hour, dependent on experience.

Qualifications

Job description

Location - Alresford

Salary - Up to GBP14/hour DOE

Hours - Friday - Sunday 8am - 2pm (Later Finish Available)

Start Date - ASAP

Background

Our client is run by a Foundation Trust which is a registered charity. Two schools, a Study Centre and the Foundation operate under the charity in 39 acres of beautiful grounds. An independent boarding school with 70 students aged 14-18 from all over the world. Also, a small day School for infants up to 9 years of age. Much of the produce used in the position is grown on site, and the school cater to a vegetarian lifestyle.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in food preparation assisting the chefs in the kitchen
  • Co-operate with all team members and undertake duties in the kitchen / service areas as requested to ensure an effective service is delivered at all times
  • Clean and wash up all kitchen and service items in an efficient manner.
  • Keep the kitchen and restaurant areas in a clean and tidy state at all times.
  • Working to high standards of practice and food hygiene.
  • To confidently produce high quality vegetarian food catering to a healthy and balance diet.
  • Communicate politely and courteously, to build and maintain strong relationships.

The Role

  • Providing nutritious meals in line with vegetarian requirements.
  • A two week rotating menu is currently in operation and works well with the students.
  • The ethos is to use organic ingredients wherever possible with suppliers on board such as Infinity and Riverford.
  • The one-acre walled vegetable garden also provides seasonal produce.
