Aspris is recruiting for a Chef/Head Cook at North Hill House, Frome, to plan menus, manage stock, cook meals and lead a small catering team in a school for autistic children.
You will work to Government Healthy Eating guidelines, maintain high hygiene standards, and ensure food safety compliance. Level 2 Food and Level 3 Supervising Food Safety certificates plus a food hygiene certificate are preferred; training will be provided.

Set in its own grounds close to Frome town centre, North Hill House is an independent specialist day school for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years with high functioning autistic spectrum disorders, including Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties. The school has been specifically designed to provide a strong focus for both UK and international students who need different levels of support to succeed, thus allowing young people with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties to thrive effectively in an ever-demanding and complex society. Students have ambitions to live and work as self-reliant adults and we can help them to reach their goals with continued support, structure and guidance.
In this role, you will be responsible for menu planning, ordering stock, cooking, food service and the line management of a small team of catering assistants. You will adhere to set budgets within the school to deliver healthy, varied and nutritious diets for young people and the staff which comply with Government Healthy Eating in Schools expectations. In addition, you will be responsible for the ensuring that the kitchen and associated areas are kept to a high standard of hygiene, including food and equipment storage and that all compliance requirements are met and maintained to a high standard.
You will ideally have a Level 2 certificate in Food, Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering and a valid food hygiene certificate. Training will be provided on Aspris systems and procedures.
