Job summary

Horizons Academy, a new special school in the Midlands, seeks a dedicated cleaner to join our team. You will perform cleaning tasks according to the academy’s schedule, maintain safety and COSHH standards, and support a clean, well-managed environment for students aged 7 to 19.

We value initiative, reliability, and the ability to work methodically with colleagues across the site; training and development opportunities are available within Diverse Academies Trust.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations as they relate to cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of COSHH and the safe use of chemicals.
• Knowledge of cleaning best practises
• Experience of undertaking a range of cleaning duties
• Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner
• Ability to act on own initiative, dealing with unexpected problems

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning tasks set out in the academy's cleaning schedule.
• Use all cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and proper manner and in accordance with any instructions and specifications provided.
• Take initiative to perform cleaning and tidying tasks not specifically contained within the rota but require attention for maintaining high standards.
• Observe health and safety and security requirements.
• Complete any appropriate records or documentation required by the Academy.
• Maintain good working relationships with other academy staff and cooperate with reasonable changes to daily routines.
• Ensure that work undertaken complies with stated requirements and undertake appropriate training, as required.
