Job summary

Horizons Academy in Mansfield is seeking a cleaner to support a new academy opening, providing cleaning services for students aged 7 to 19 with SEMH/ASC needs. The role emphasises safety, initiative, and the ability to maintain high cleanliness standards across classrooms and common areas.

The successful candidate will follow the cleaning schedule, observe COSHH and health & safety guidelines, and contribute to a welcoming, well-maintained learning environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations as they relate to cleaning equipment and dilution of cleaning materials.
• Knowledge of COSHH and safe use of chemicals.
• Knowledge of cleaning best practises.
• Experience of undertaking a range of cleaning duties.
• Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner.
• Ability to act on own initiative and handle unexpected problems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning tasks as per the academy's cleaning schedule.
• Use cleaning materials and equipment safely and according to instructions.
• Take initiative to perform additional cleaning to maintain high standards.
• Observe health and safety and security requirements.
• Complete records or documentation as required by the Academy.
• Maintain good working relationships and adapt to daily routines to support operation.
