Job summary

Manpower Recruitment is seeking an experienced School Chef for an established Oxford school. This temporary role runs for an initial 4 weeks, with possible extension subject to sickness cover needs.

The successful candidate will prepare nutritious meals, follow menus, manage allergies, maintain hygiene, and work with the catering team to deliver high-quality school meals; DBS required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably in school or high-volume catering.
• Enhanced DBS check (child workforce) is required.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to obtain.
• Experience with dietary requirements and allergen handling.
• Ability to work well in a team and under time pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present school meals to a high standard, following set menus and recipes.
• Ensure all food is prepared in line with nutritional guidelines and allergen and dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and COSHH compliance at all times.
• Support portion control, plating and timely meal service.
• Assist with stock rotation, stock checks and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment.
• Work closely with the Catering Manager and wider catering team.
• Complete any required food hygiene and safeguarding training.
