Oxford School Chef – From-Scratch Meals, Fixed Term

Job summary

Manpower Recruitment are recruiting a School Chef for an established School in Oxford. The role is on a Fixed Term Contract for 4 weeks, with a chance to be extended for the right candidate, working 23.75 hours per week.

A valid DBS is required due to environment. You will prepare and cook nutritious meals, follow menus and dietary requirements, maintain high hygiene standards, and work as part of a small catering team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Chef or Cook.
• Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety in a catering setting.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience working with children or in a school environment.
• Basic knowledge of menu planning and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present school meals to a high standard, following set menus and recipes.
• Ensure all food is prepared in line with nutritional guidelines and allergen/dietary requirements.
• Maintain excellent food hygiene, health & safety, and COSHH standards at all times.
• Support with portion control, plating, and timely service.
• Assist with stock rotation, basic stock checks, and keeping the kitchen clean and tidy.
• Work closely with the Catering Manager and team and support training of junior staff/catering assistants.
• Complete any required food hygiene and safeguarding training.
