Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience managing a kitchen and a small team in a school or similar environment.
• Knowledge of allergens, temperatures and HACCP practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the base kitchen, including line management of Catering Assistants.
• Prepare and cook high-quality meals in accordance with menus, recipes and ingredients.
• Support menu planning, portion control and costing for meals.
• Serve pupils with appropriate portion controls.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation in kitchen and service areas; manage washing up and waste removal.
• Ensure staff adhere to health and safety, food hygiene and company procedures.
• Keep accurate records and logs (allergens, temperatures, food preparation, transportation, cleaning and wastage).
• Maintain stock levels and support supplier quality control.
• Raise and help resolve issues or complaints from pupils, parents and carers.
• Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare; participate in professional development.
