Job summary

Gap Personnel is recruiting a Temporary Catering Assistant to cover at a local college for approximately 8–12 weeks, starting in September. The role involves catering, food preparation and cleaning duties in a busy educational setting.

Salary is £13.69 per hour for 37 hours a week, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. DBS check is required; food hygiene training can be provided if needed. Monday–Thursday 08:00–16:00, Friday 08:00–15:30.

Qualifications

• Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
• Good attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
• Comfortable with both food preparation and cleaning duties.
• Experience in catering, kitchen, hospitality or food-related environments preferred.
• DBS check is required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Order and collect supermarket food deliveries for the college.
• Receive, unpack and store stock safely.
• Prepare and portion ingredients for student practical lessons.
• Maintain a clean and organised working environment.
• Clean and sanitise work areas between lessons.
• Carry out end-of-day deep cleaning duties.
• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.

Gap Personnel are currently recruiting for a Temporary Catering & Food Preparation Assistant to provide cover at a local college for approximately 8–12 weeks, starting in September.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with catering, food preparation, kitchen assistant, or cleaning experience who enjoys working in a busy educational environment.

Pay & Hours

• £13.69 per hour


• 37 hours per week


• Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16:00


• Friday: 08:00 – 15:30


• 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Key Responsibilities

• Ordering and collecting supermarket food deliveries for the college


• Receiving, unpacking, and storing stock safely


• Preparing and portioning ingredients and supplies for student practical lessons


• Maintaining a clean and organised working environment


• Cleaning and sanitising work areas between lessons


• Carrying out thorough end-of-day deep cleaning duties


• Following food safety and hygiene procedures at all times

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience in a catering, kitchen, hospitality, or food-related environment (preferred but not essential)
