Job summary

Berkeley Scott Recruitment are actively recruiting experienced Catering Assistants for the new school year starting in September in the Winchester area. Working with Impact Food Group, there are roles across several schools offering term-time hours and flexible shift patterns.

Ideal candidates will have food safety awareness and an Enhanced DBS, with friendly, reliable service and the ability to work well with teaching staff and kitchen teams.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as Catering Assistant, or in education environment
  • Food Safety and Food Allergen qualifications, or willingness to complete them
  • Enhanced DBS with child DBS clearance, or willingness to obtain one
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced catering environments
  • Positive, reliable and professional approach to work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for delivering excellent service in busy catering operations

Responsibilities

  • Support Chef/Catering Manager and kitchen teams
  • Assist with preparation and service of hot and cold food items
  • Assist with food service of children and liaise with teachers and care workers
  • Operate tills and handle payments where required
  • Clear down and close units at end of shifts
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Follow food safety and allergen legislation at all times
  • Keep service areas clean, organized and well stocked
  • Work closely with school staff to deliver efficient service

As a Catering Assistant, your duties will include:
  • Supporting Chef/Catering Manager and kitchen teams
  • Assisting with the preparation and service of hot and cold food items

  • Clearing down and closing units at the end of shifts
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene

What We Are Looking For In Our Catering Assistants
  • Previous experience working as a Catering Assistant - experience working in education would be advantageous
  • Food Safety and Food Allergen qualifications, or willingness to complete them, is essential
  • Possession of an Enhanced DBS with child barring or the willingness to obtain one is essential
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced catering environments
  • A positive, reliable and professional approach to work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for delivering excellent service and supporting busy catering operations
