Job description
Overview

School Caretaker position at a primary school in Peterlee. Role starts ASAP and runs during the summer holidays. Salary: 13.68-16.11 per hour. This is a full-time role with a split shift pattern.

Responsibilities
  • Open and close the school each day (split shift: 6:30am-10:00am and 2:00pm-6:00pm).
  • Supervise a team of premises and cleaning staff, including coordinating with the Business Manager on staffing levels, recruitment and selection, inductions, workload allocation, training and performance management.
  • Oversee the smooth running of the building and supervise contractors on site.
  • Maintain building security and manage security systems.
  • Keep common areas clean and tidy; carry out administrative tasks related to building and staff management; provide building reports to the Managing Agents every fourteen days.
  • Monitor contractor activity to minimise disruption and sign off works and records as required.
  • Conduct routine checks of the building, including fire alarms, smoke detectors and fire doors; carry out minor maintenance as needed.
Requirements / Experience
  • Experience in general DIY, cleaning and maintenance; able to communicate effectively and manage health and safety considerations.
  • Ability to work strategically with staff and uphold health and safety standards.
  • Positive, proactive approach to facilities management in a school environment.
