Job summary

Pentland Infant and Nursery School is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to maintain a safe, clean and secure school environment. The role covers opening/closing the site, daily cleaning and minor repairs, and health and safety checks to ensure a welcoming space for pupils and staff.

The successful candidate will work 20 hours per week across split shifts, with some flexibility and periods of additional duties during holidays or events, reporting to the Headteacher and School Business Manager.

Qualifications

• Broad range of practical skills including general DIY, building and grounds maintenance.
• Able to complete minor repairs and maintenance tasks to a high standard.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures (HASAW and COSHH).

Responsibilities

• Open and lock the site and oversee daily opening routines.
• Carry out daily cleaning and minor repairs.
• Perform health, safety and compliance checks and keep accurate records.
