Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and reliable School Caretaker to join our team at Five Rivers, as we open our new school in the Bristol area. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our school facilities, demonstrating a commitment to providing exceptional service to our staff, students, and visitors.
This role involves working at a school in Redhill and, at times, at local bases around the area. Our schools provide Special Education support for students who have experienced trauma or who would benefit from a therapeutic approach. The school is in a converted hotel with a swimming pool in the basement!
You will be reporting directly to our Head Teacher with additional support from our facilities team.

Key Responsibilities:
• Supporting and coordinating all low-level and routine maintenance activities to ensure planned work, reactive breakdowns, and cyclical programs are delivered.
• Coordinate with external contractors and liaise with our central estates department.
• You will oversee the premises to ensure they meet compliant Health and Safety standards and perform basic upkeep of the external grounds.
• Maintain and manage accurate health and safety compliance records, such as water temperature checks, emergency lights, fire alarms, etc.
• Assist in the Swimming Pool management and ensure safety protocols are followed. Carry out regular safety checks of equipment, pool water testing, and inspections, reporting defects or concerns promptly.
• Contribute to project management tasks and manage costs effectively.This role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Our offices and schools open during normal business hours however, you may need to be more flexible about this in your role, which may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Qualifications/Knowledge:
• Experience in pool management, project management, and cost management
• Attained IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
• Willingness to travel to all Five Rivers establishments
• Knowledge and competence in Microsoft Office packages, including O365 (Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel).
• Membership in the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) is a plus.
• Must be eligible to work in the UK and hold a full driving license.
