School Caretaker - Basingstoke

Academics have an urgent need for a School Caretaker to carry out a full-time contract in a large SEN Secondary school in Basingstoke. This is to start on Monday 14th April for a minimum of 4 weeks. Working hours are from 7am – 3pm, paying between £90-£100 per day.

You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and secure school environment, encompassing duties including security, minor repairs, grounds-keeping, and assisting with school events.

Core Responsibilities as a School Caretaker:

1. Opening and closing the school building and grounds.
2. Monitoring access to the premises and ensuring security.
3. Checking for damage or security issues upon arrival and throughout the day.
4. Ensuring all doors, windows, and gates are locked securely.
5. Responding to alarm activations and other security concerns.
6. Performing routine maintenance tasks, including minor repairs to fixtures and fittings.
7. Ensuring the school facilities are in good working order, including boilers and utility supplies.
8. Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
9. Liaising with external contractors for larger repairs and maintenance projects.
10. Maintaining cleanliness in classrooms, hallways, offices, toilets, and other areas within the school.
11. Taking care of the school grounds, including lawn maintenance, gardening, and clearing leaves or snow.
12. Ensuring grounds are litter-free.
13. Emptying outside bins.
14. Assisting with setting up and organising spaces for school events, such as furniture and audiovisual equipment.
15. Arranging chairs and tables for meetings and clearing them away afterwards.
