Join a supportive team as a Caretaker or Caretaking Manager in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school across multiple sites. You will be responsible for maintaining the school's environment, conducting repairs, and ensuring safety. Are you a reliable, hands-on individual with a passion for making a difference behind the scenes? We are working with a fantastic Special Educational Needs (SEN) school that is seeking a committed Caretaker or Caretaking Manager, depending on experience to join their supportive team.
The school operates across three sites: Old Trafford, Stockport, and Chadderton. You must hold a full UK driving licence, as travel between sites is part of the role. The schedule for site days will be agreed upon at interview.
Whether you're an experienced caretaker ready to step into a managerial position, or someone with solid skills and a desire to grow, full training and support will be provided to help you develop into the role particularly if you're not quite ready to take on managerial responsibilities from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of the school buildings and grounds
Conducting basic repairs, DIY tasks, and preventative maintenance
Ensuring the premises are clean, safe, and secure at all times
Supporting the health & safety requirements of the school
Liaising with contractors and external services when required
Carrying out regular checks on equipment, fire alarms, heating, and lighting systems
Managing site security including unlocking/locking the school when necessary (no split shifts required)
Ensuring cleanliness of outdoor areas, playgrounds, and car parks
Assisting with the setting up of rooms for school events and activities
Requirements:
Full UK driving licence (essential travel between sites is required)
Previous caretaking, facilities, or maintenance experience
Basic handyman skills: painting, minor plumbing, general repairs, etc.
Ability to work independently and take initiative
A positive, flexible attitude and a strong work ethic
Willingness to undergo training (if required) to develop into a managerial role
