Pinnacle Group is seeking a School Caretaker to maintain safe, clean, and well-presented school environments in Exeter. You will ensure security, perform routine and preventative maintenance, and support service providers on site.

The role covers general handyperson work, minor repairs, and assisting with daily operational tasks, with a 6am–6pm, Monday–Friday shift pattern. A practical, customer-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Range of general handyperson skills including DIY, minor plumbing, carpentry and basic electrical maintenance.
• Good customer service skills and a practical, reliable approach.
• Amenable and approachable personality with ability to liaise with external providers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure security integrity of school buildings and grounds with locking/unlocking and patrols.
• Carry out day-to-day duties, litter picking, bin emptying and sweeping.
• Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance per school schedules and skills.
• Provide access, escort, and liaise with service providers; carry out minor repairs/decoration.
• Investigate reactive requests and arrange temporary or permanent repairs; notify management.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate rectification per procedures; assist with porterage and moves.
• Weekly drains, gullies checks and plant room checks; perform monthly maintenance tasks.

In this role, you will provide and maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment for staff, users and visitors to a high standard throughout the patch of schools in Exeter.Our Total Facilities Management team delivers integrated asset management and maintenance services across education, leisure, corporate, health and residential sectors. We focus on keeping facilities running smoothly, safely, and efficiently – helping our clients create spaces that work for everyone.The ideal candidate will be a practical and reliable individual with a broad range of handyperson skills, including general DIY, minor plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical maintenance.
