Job Title: School Business Manager Special Needs School
Location: Luton, Bedfordshire
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: Competitive (Dependent on experience and qualifications)

Job Summary:


A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated School Business Manager to join our dynamic special needs school in Luton, starting September 2025. This is a senior leadership role, essential to the successful running and strategic development of our school community.

You will oversee the business and operational functions of the school, enabling the leadership team to focus on delivering outstanding outcomes for pupils with a range of complex learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the financial management, budget planning, forecasting, and reporting

  • Oversee HR administration, payroll coordination, and recruitment processes

  • Manage health & safety, premises, contracts, and site compliance

  • Contribute to strategic planning and support the Headteacher and SLT

  • Line manage administrative and support staff, ensuring smooth operations

  • Ensure compliance with local authority and DfE requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • A recognised school business management qualification (e.g. Level 4/5 SBP, CSBM, DSBM, or equivalent)

  • Proven experience in a senior business or administrative role within an educational setting

  • Strong working knowledge of SIMS, Arbor, and PSF

  • Excellent financial, HR, and organisational management skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and work collaboratively

  • High levels of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a special needs school or SEN provision

  • Familiarity with school funding mechanisms and procurement procedures

  • Knowledge of GDPR and statutory reporting responsibilities in education
