Job Description

To operate, maintain, and develop the administrative and financial procedures and systems of the school as part of the Senior Leadership Team and in partnership with Governors, ensuring that all legal and safety requirements regarding people and property are fully met.

To be responsible for the school site and its buildings, including their maintenance, development, efficient use, and safety.

To lead efforts in seeking best value for the school concerning all services provided through user level agreements and contracts.

To function as line manager for designated groups of staff as specified by the school.

To serve as the non-teaching member of the Senior Leadership Team and contribute to the successful and efficient operation of the school.

To be the Performance Manager Team Leader for specific staff groups as designated by the school.

Key Responsibilities

To be an effective team member and promote the values, culture, aims, and objectives of the school, actively avoiding any reputational damage.

Financial Duties
  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the School’s Information Management System, including necessary updates.
  • Collaborate with the Headteacher and Governors in preparing budget forecasts.
  • Advise SLT members and Governors on financial implications related to the School Development Plan.
  • Prepare and deliver reports to Governors as required by Internal Audit.
  • Meet with officials, including Auditors, to ensure the effectiveness of the finance system.
  • Prepare and submit bids for external funding under the Headteacher’s guidance.
Personnel and Human Resources
  • Maintain personnel records and liaise with HR providers regarding staff changes.
  • Provide advice on personnel issues to staff and Governors.
  • Assist with staffing advertisements and handle related correspondence.
Site and Premises
  • Line management of Administration, Caretaking, Cleaning, and Catering staff.
  • Manage day-to-day site operations, including utilities, in collaboration with the Building Site Supervisor.
  • Liaise with contractors regarding premises issues, refurbishment, and repairs.
  • Assist Governors in developing a site improvement plan and act as project manager for premises improvements.
ICT

Liaise with the ICT Network Manager to ensure consistent and efficient ICT services.

Health and Safety
  • Maintain health and safety systems and records, reporting to the Headteacher and Governors as needed.
  • Maintain risk assessments related to fire, health, safety, and first aid.
General
  • Oversee the banking of all monies received by the school.
  • Stay informed about current educational developments and undertake relevant CPD.
