Job summary

Cornerstone Academy Trust is recruiting a Speech and Language Therapist to join our SEND team in Exeter. You will deliver high-quality assessment, intervention and advice for children with SLCN across our primary schools, working three days per week term time.

You will collaborate with SENDCos and the Head of Children’s Services to provide group and whole-school SLCN programmes, CPD to staff and families, and contribute to the universal SLCN offer. Travel between our Exeter schools is required.

Qualifications

• A recognised Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• A commitment to working within RCSLT clinical guidelines and HCPC professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an effective and responsive speech and language therapy service across the Trust.
• Lead the delivery and training of whole-class and group SLCN interventions.
• Provide advice regarding NHS SLCN referrals and support staff to deliver NHS programmes.
• Manage a caseload of children with a range of communication needs if needed in addition to NHS input.
• Assess pupils with speech, language and communication difficulties and analyse findings to determine the most appropriate interventions.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate individual and group-based therapy programmes.
• Develop, implement and review personalised speech, language and communication programmes, providing accessible guidance and training for school staff and families where appropriate.
• Use evidence-based practice to support clinical decision-making and maintain high standards of clinical governance and risk management.
• Contribute to reviews, multi-agency meetings and wider SEND planning, promoting effective partnership working.
• Liaise with a range of professionals, including educational staff, healthcare practitioners, therapists and other external agencies, to support positive outcomes for pupils.
• Support transition planning and attend appointments or meetings where required.
• Contribute positively to the wider work of the Trust and support colleagues as needed.
