Job Description

Summary: Provides clinical and technical support for school-based health center (SBHC) medical providers, supports behavioral health and dental providers, manages supplies, performs clinical testing per OSHA and CLIA standards, enrolls patients, and bills for services.

Responsibilities:

• Greet patients, parents, and staff.
• Identify uninsured/underinsured patients and refer them for insurance coverage.
• Escort patients, record complaints, and prepare them for providers.
• Perform CLIA waived tests, set up operatory, and assist providers.
• Monitor and restock supplies, maintain logs, and ensure timely billing.
• Support communication within the clinical team, maintain universal precautions, participate in quality activities, serve as Safety Officer, and lead or participate in special projects.
• Meet regularly with management to discuss operational issues and create agendas for meetings.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant course.
• Board Certification/Registration.
• Knowledge of EKG, phlebotomy, scheduling, medical testing, and computer skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, team focus, leadership qualities.
• Current CPR and AED certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS/AED for Healthcare Providers).

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with electronic health records.
• Two or more years as a Medical Assistant.

Physical and Work Environment:

• Manual dexterity, ability to stand, walk, lift.
• Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

Additional Qualifications:

• Effective communication of clinical information, collaboration with staff.
