Job summary

Glasgow City Council is seeking a dedicated healthcare support professional to assist children and young people with complex medical needs within a school setting. The role focuses on ensuring health needs are met and participation in the curriculum is supported.

You will work with families, school staff and healthcare professionals to develop and review health support plans, maintain clear communication, and contribute to a safe learning environment for students with complex medical needs.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and organisational skills are required.
• Experience of working within an educational, healthcare, or care environment is essential.
• Membership of the PVG scheme is essential on taking up appointment.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare support to children and young people with complex medical conditions to meet health needs and enable participation in the curriculum.
• Deliver tasks such as tracheostomy care and suctioning, catheterisation, support for oxygen-dependent children, and feeding programmes.
• Offer guidance and support to school-based staff in health-related procedures and interventions.
• Collaborate with school management, families, healthcare professionals and external partners to develop and review health support plans.
