Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a proactive School Administrator for a welcoming secondary school in Milton Keynes. The role starts ASAP, is full-time/long-term, and offers competitive hourly/daily rates based on experience.

You will be the first point of contact for students, parents, and staff, ensuring smooth daily operations and confidentiality. You will manage front desk duties, handle data entry and pupil records, and support admissions, attendance, and safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an administrative or school office role.
  • Secondary school experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and school systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguarding awareness.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Managing reception and front office duties, including welcoming visitors and answering telephone enquiries.
  • Responding to emails and general enquiries from parents, students, and staff.
  • Maintaining accurate pupil records and supporting attendance administration.
  • Completing data entry and updating school databases and management systems.
  • Supporting admissions, transfers, correspondence, and general school administration.
  • Preparing documents, letters, reports, and other school communications.
  • Using school management systems such as SIMS, Arbor, or similar platforms.
  • Supporting meetings, appointments, timetables, and administrative arrangements.
  • Maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive pupil, family, and staff information.
  • Supporting safeguarding procedures and following school policies and processes.

We are currently recruiting a School Administrator for a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Milton Keynes, with an immediate start available. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced administrator looking to secure a long-term position within education, with the potential for a permanent appointment.

Role Overview

As a School Administrator, you will be an important part of the school's administrative team, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school office. You will regularly liaise with students, parents, staff, and visitors, acting as a professional and approachable first point of contact.

Key Responsibilities

Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience in an administrative or school office role.
  • Secondary school experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, friendly, and confident when dealing with students, parents, and staff.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, email, and administrative systems.
  • Able to prioritise tasks and remain calm in a busy school environment.
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality within an educational setting.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to obtain one.
