Job Introduction
The BBC Apprenticeships Team is looking for a Scheme Specialist to project manage a range of activity in Outreach and Preemployment. The focus of the role is to design and deliver a comprehensive offer of outreach activity aimed at attracting diverse entry-level talent to the BBC, especially talent from underrepresented backgrounds and communities. The Scheme Specialist will also be responsible for managing, coordinating and supporting the delivery of the BBC's work taster programme, Get In.
The work of the Outreach Scheme Specialist is centred on highlighting the BBC's apprenticeship opportunities and establishing the organisation as a positive career destination choice for anyone wanting to start a career in the media, irrespective of background, in particular, talent from under, or poorly, represented communities. The role also requires the management of initiatives and interventions in the wider preemployment space.
Main Responsibilities
• Scope, design and delivery of all aspects of large and small scale, national and local, outreach events across a wide range of platforms both digital and in-person and across the whole slate of the Apprenticeships' Team and scheme activity. This will include in-person events; webinars; setting up and organising new initiatives and campaigns.
• Strategic development of a varied and comprehensive early careers outreach programme which aligns and reflects the BBC's commitments to developing and retaining new talent.
• Coordinate and manage the 'Get In' work insight programme.
• Work, and network, at grass roots level, as well as with relevant organisations and groups, to establish and improve understanding of the BBC brand and a potential employer of choice.
• Maintain relationships and build new connections with key stakeholders internally, as well as with external stakeholders, organisations, communities and the wider apprenticeship/early careers arena.
• Attend outreach events and represent the BBC's apprenticeship opportunities to external and internal stakeholders and related parties.
• Evaluate data and provide feedback on efficacy of outreach strategy to inform future activity.
• Work with the Talent Acquisition team to develop and implement an attraction to conversion tracking process.
• Manage budgets efficiently and effectively.

Essential
• Strong appreciation of the challenges in attracting people, especially young people, to consider the BBC as a future employer.
• Understanding the specific challenges facing people who are new to the world of work, or those returning to study.
• Knowledge and/or experience of working with underrepresented or disadvantaged groups.
• Experience of delivering talent attraction activity which resonates with diverse young talent.
• Understanding of the potential challenges in positively establishing the BBC as a brand, especially to younger and underrepresented demographics.
• A confident and effective communicator, verbally and in writing, with proven ability to work across boundaries and break down barriers.
• Confidence to represent the BBC externally and work with external stakeholders.
• Ability to represent the work of the Apprenticeships Team to internal stakeholders and partners.
• You will have excellent contacts already, as well as the skills to make new contacts and networks.
• Knowledge/experience of maintaining records and interrogating data to inform future interventions and initiatives.
• Appreciation of the BBC's targets for growing its apprentice and new talent numbers and also in meeting its targets across all areas of diversity.
• Collaborating with BBC Talent Acquisition colleagues with regard to talent attraction and initiatives, recruitment and assessment.
• Appropriate knowledge of BBC policies, procedures, systems and guidelines, including health and safety and safeguarding
• Good management and budget management skills, as well as experience in leading projects.
Desirable
• A broad understanding and knowledge of the raft of apprenticeships and early career opportunities on offer at the BBC.
• Understanding/experience of wider (non-apprenticeship) pre-employment initiatives
• Experience of working in one of the apprenticeship genres (e.g. corporate functions, data, engineering, journalism, production)
• Understanding of the BBC's workforce needs and the latest developments in industry thinking/practice in relation to developing new talent
• Ability to create content and assets that can be used across a range of outreach activity and outlets e.g. short films, social media content, presentations
• Event management/presentational skills
