We are dedicated to providing the highest level of organisational support to key projects.

Vulcain Engineering was founded in the mid-2000s to specialise in energy and environment projects. Our knowledge of the energy and environment sector means we can support our customers at all stages of the engineering-procurement-construction-commissioning (EPCC) project lifecycle.

With operations in 16 countries and employing over 6,000 staff worldwide, our business responds to the needs of our clients by delivering expertise in the form of high added value engineering services.

Vulcain Engineering UK are seeking a Scheduler to join the planning and scheduling teams for internal and client engineering projects in the UK Nuclear sector.

In this position, the Schedular will play an integral part of controlling and managing the project and programme progress, whilst utilising specialist tools to analyse the overall performance of the schedules / plans.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Scheduler will include:

  • Managing and monitoring programme plans - including full costing, development of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), resource management, cost management of risk and critical path review, using appropriate software and tools.
  • Manage the change control as the project/programme scope changes, using the correct processes and updating the necessary configuration documentation.
  • Produce and present monthly reports.
  • Monitor the project baseline control and different types of baseline change.
  • Integrate risk and their costs effectively into the plan/schedule.
  • Apply project control methodologies and processes for programme and project management schedule.
  • Participate in technical communities to support the development of other Vulcain staff.

The role is responsible for reporting the performance of the plan to senior members of the team and communicate effectively with stakeholders responsible for delivering the plan to ensure it is representative of current progress.

The Scheduler will play an important role in Vulcain’s PMO teams and will directly support a range of high profile and high value nuclear new build projects, offering the chance to develop a career in some of the largest projects in the UK for several decades.

Preferred Profile:

  • Experience with Primavera P6, and with Planisware or Paladin is essential.
  • Broad experience of supporting the construction and/or engineering phase of a high value project.
  • Industry exposure in Nuclear or another highly regulated heavy industry, such as Energy, Rail, Defence.
  • Understanding of project management tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate costs/data in a well structured manner.
  • Confident managing a multitude of stakeholders, including senior leadership, both internally and externally, as well as the ability to challenge and consult when required.
  • You will have indefinite and independent right to work in the UK, due to the high level of security clearance required on several of our UK Nuclear sites.

At Vulcain Engineering, we offer more than just a job, we offer a rewarding career with endless opportunities for growth and development. You'll be part of a talented team of professionals working on exciting and meaningful projects and making a real impact to the nuclear industry.
