Job description

Are you looking for a rewarding long-term temporary position as a Scanning Operator? Our client, a leading multinational corporation, is seeking talented individuals to join their team at the Medical Records Library located in Bedford Hospital.

Position Details

Location: Bedford Hospital - Medical Records Library, Britannia Road, Bedford, MK42 9DJ

Working Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours/week, 7am-3pm, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute break each day. Discounted parking is available for those living over 5 miles from the hospital. Two weeks of full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare Event Notes with correct batch header sheets or "intelligent bar codes" according to scan and preparation guidelines.
  2. Guillotine booklets and scan "long documents" as part of the preparation process.
  3. Use on-screen stamps to identify poor-quality documents during scanning.
  4. Remove unscannable items following guidelines.
  5. Operate high-resolution scanners to meet quality standards.
  6. Collect Event Notes from designated points, following schedules based on priority.
  7. Check image quality during scanning and make necessary adjustments.
  8. Maintain and clean scanning equipment regularly.
  9. Complete Quality Assurance processes as per standards.
  10. Report issues related to scanning or equipment to the Team Leader.
  11. Prioritize urgent requests and respond promptly.
  12. Assist with inquiries and support new staff members.
  13. Participate in mandatory training, including ethics and security protocols.
  14. Provide cover for absent team members as needed.
  15. Perform any other duties within the role's scope.
Candidate Requirements
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Sensitivity and experience in handling Medical Records.
  • Understanding of Case Note structure and policies.
  • IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Willingness to learn to operate scanners.
  • Excellent comprehension of verbal and written instructions.
