A vacancy has arisen at the Aberdeen Technical facility for a Scale Specialist who will provide high level scale support to the North Sea sales team. Reporting to the North Sea Technical Centre Manager, the Scale Specialist will be responsible for North Sea scale projects and technical enquiries. Management of projects and attending customer meetings, conferences, workshops and JIP's is part of the role. The scale specialist will be the focal point for improvements in scale and analytical testing procedures and data reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for analysis OTIF’s, including troubleshooting and method development where required.
  • Attend meetings with external and internal stakeholders (e.g. project updates and customer meetings).
  • Participate in online forums for scale experts.
  • Carry out or oversee any subordinates carrying out these projects.
  • Mentor or train colleagues in use of software.
  • Coordinate and perform laboratory projects according to agreed scope of work and timelines.
  • Provide high quality reports of technical work conducted for internal and external customers.
  • Ensure that all activities are undertaken according to Clariant HSE policy and legislation.
  • Undertake workplace inspections and report safety observations, report incidents, accidents and near-misses.
  • Interface with Quality Control in ensuring high product quality is maintained and developed.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of scale formation mechanisms and scale inhibition chemistry
  • Minimum 5 years in Production Chemistry
  • Preferably Degree in Science or Engineering.
  • Ability to react or adapt to changing workscopes and demanding environment.
  • Highly developed report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in Project Management.
  • Multitasking and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
