Description: Do you want to enable the green energy transition and build customized embedded control systems consisting of software and hardware to meet sustainable energy needs? We believe HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) technology offers a long-term solution for energy transfer over long distances and grid stabilization. This hybrid role, based in Birmingham or Glasgow, involves designing automation systems for HVDC plants, including control cabinet layout, user interfaces, diagnostic tools, and IT infrastructure using our in-house real-time platform MACH.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, document, test, and commission SCADA and HMI systems for HVDC stations, supporting global projects during commissioning.
  • Build infrastructure of networks and systems supporting operations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to meet requirements and standards.
  • Work with engineering colleagues, sharing best practices across projects.
  • Travel internationally to participate in building power stations worldwide.
  • Plan and organize daily work with problem-solving in mind.
Qualifications / Background:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Strong communication skills in English, comfortable with customer discussions.
  • Experience with network equipment, redundant network designs, and protocols.
  • Experience with Microsoft OS, Active Directory, databases, scripting, and automation.
  • Knowledge of security systems, intrusion detection, and high-availability solutions.
  • Experience with HMI development (e.g., InTouch), backup/image handling, and standards (IEEE/IEC).
