Job description

Research Nurse Haematology Cancer Trials

Fixed term – 2 years

Band 6

We are looking to recruit a nursing professional to an exciting and challenging research post based in the Oncology department within the Anchor Unit at ARI. This role will help you develop research nurse skills necessary to provide exceptional clinical research care to patients involved in Oncology clinical trials. You will be part of a well-established team of research nurses who will assist in training and mentoring.

You will assist in delivering direct/indirect care and treatments for participants in research trials. Responsibilities include trial setup, recruitment, monitoring study patients, collecting accurate data, and liaising with data monitors. The main duties will be under the direction of the Oncologists, with guidance from our experienced research team and senior Oncology/Haematology research nurses.

Previous experience in Oncology is advantageous. However, we will consider candidates with little or no experience but a keen willingness to learn. Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to manage caseloads to high standards are essential.

This role includes an educational component for student nurses, staff, and patients. We value and encourage student nurses to spend time in our department and will involve teaching students during their placement within the anchor unit.

Interested applicants should contact Shirley Richardson, Senior Research Nurse, at 01224 554781 for further information.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday, 2nd July 2025.
