Job summary

Searchability NS&D is seeking a Senior Python / Data Engineer (SC cleared) to design and build modern data platforms for public sector projects in Manchester. The role blends hands-on backend Python and data engineering with cloud workloads, APIs, and data services.

You will contribute across the lifecycle, mentor engineers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver scalable data solutions. Hybrid work pattern and security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Strong Python experience with backend software engineering.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP cloud platforms.
• Proficient in Git, CI/CD and automated testing.
• Knowledge of databases and data processing.
• Experience building APIs and data pipelines.
• Familiar with ETL/ELT concepts and data architectures.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python applications and services for production use.
• Build and maintain data pipelines (ETL/ELT, batch/streaming).
• Work with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Design and integrate APIs, databases and data services.
• Apply software engineering principles (SOLID, DRY, TDD).
• Use Git and CI/CD to support deployments and code quality.
• Collaborate with data scientists and multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor fellow engineers and share knowledge.
