Our defence sector client is currently recruiting SC cleared Safety Engineers for initial 6-month contracts. The contracts offer a hybrid working arrangement of 2-3 days onsite in Bristol and the remainder working from home.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and maintenance of policy and process to satisfy the corporate standards for Acquisition Safety.
- Develop, manage, and maintain effective Safety Management Systems. Identify and analyse hazards and contribute to the identification and evaluation of risk reduction measures, ensuring these are adequately documented and managed.
- Work with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance with relevant UK and EU legislation, MOD regulations, and policies.
- Develop and maintain project safety assurance plans, monitor compliance, and ensure safety assurance evidence is gathered and assessed for safety case preparation.
- Produce, review, endorse, and recommend acceptance of safety artefacts.
- Oversee the management of contractual aspects to ensure safety requirements are captured and manage contractors performing safety activities.
- Provide informed safety advice to decision-makers through Project Safety Panels.
Experience
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineering professional affiliation or demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
- Practitioner status in System Safety practices.
- Member of a relevant Professional Safety Institute or equivalent body.
- Extensive experience in the use of ASEMS and System Safety Management Tools & Processes.
- Substantial experience in a system safety role and developing a Safety Management System.
- Knowledge acquired through recognised System Safety courses with benchmarked examination.
- A minimum of Level 4 NQF in a relevant engineering discipline.
