Job summary

Glennon Brothers Group is seeking a General Operative – Sawmill in the UK to support the safe, efficient day-to-day sawmill operation within a production team. You will perform operational tasks, follow SOPs, and help maintain quality and housekeeping on site.

The role emphasizes a hands-on, safety-conscious approach, reliability and flexibility to cover different areas and shifts as required. Training will be provided to ensure safety and productivity across the team.

Qualifications

• Experience in a sawmill or production environment is desirable but not essential.
• Willingness to learn health and safety rules and safe systems of work.
• Hands-on, reliable and safety-conscious approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Operate within health, safety and environmental standards and safe systems of work.
• Carry out sawmill production tasks in line with standard operating procedures.
• Operate tools, machinery and equipment safely and report faults or hazards.
• Support material handling activities including feeding, stacking, grading, banding and packing timber products.
• Maintain clean, safe and organised working areas (housekeeping).
• Conduct basic quality checks and escalate issues as required.
• Collaborate with team to achieve daily production targets.
• Follow supervisor instructions and support shift handovers.
• Participate in training, safety briefings and improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
