Job description

The Surgical Assessment Unit at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd is seeking Band 2 Health Care Support Workers. The successful candidate will join a supportive and dedicated team. Applicants should have some care experience, preferably in a hospital setting, with excellent communication skills, teamwork, initiative, and organizational abilities. Training, mentorship, and support will be provided.

Main duties of the job
  1. Carry out delegated nursing tasks for a diverse group of patients, including those with physical and/or mental disabilities or illnesses, such as bathing, toileting, feeding, and providing last offices.
  2. Assist with intentional rounding, pressure care, and maintain documentation.
  3. Inform nursing staff of any issues or changes in patients' conditions.
  4. Recognize and respond to changes in patient behavior or condition and report to the Registered Nurse.
  5. Respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
  6. Maintain a tidy and clean department.
  7. Escort low dependency patients to other wards when needed.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and colleagues.
  9. Assist with obtaining urine and feces samples as required by trained nurses.
  10. Collaborate with other health professionals to deliver multidisciplinary care.
  11. Assist patients with dietary requirements and monitor food orders as instructed.
  12. Help maintain stock levels, restock supplies, and perform general housekeeping duties.

Knowledge of Welsh is desirable; applications in Welsh are welcomed and will be treated equally.
