Job Description:

At Norwich University of the Arts, we champion transdisciplinary making and creating using traditional, digital and new emerging technologies. To support this, we provide a range of high-quality workshops and technical resources where students can explore material and digital thinking to succeed in their creative ambitions.

We are looking for a creative maker to join our 3D workshop technical team to help support our students with a variety of 3D making practices in wood, metal, plastics, foam forming and mould making.

You will be supporting making and creating using a range of hand tools, traditional processes, and modern fabrication equipment such as 3D printing.

You will be focused on working with the students providing technical advice and support to help realise their creative ambitions, support their learning and their practical skills development as they undertake project work in our busy and inspiring workshop environment.

You will be responsible for overseeing the safe use of equipment and consumables ensuring a safe working for our students to produce creative, innovative and contemporary outcomes.

The successful candidate will be joining a team of a highly skilled technical colleagues who have extensive experience with fabrication methods and supporting students. We are looking for a great communicator, who is committed, willing to learn, enjoys problem solving, collaborating and working on their own initiative.

The successful candidate will have sound knowledge and practical skills of fabrication in one or more of these practices: wood, metal, plastics, foam forming or mould making and how they relate to the methodology of different fabrication processes.

If you have proven practical skills and enthusiasm for creating three dimensional objects, art works or models using materials such as wood, metal and plastic and you are able to provide technical expertise and guidance to students we want to hear from you.
