We're looking for a Saturday Library Assistant to be a part of our close-knit library service!

Our libraries deliver essential community-based support, promoting the benefits of reading for everyone, offering a quality, trusted information service, bridging digital inclusion through supporting safe access to online resources, and curating a programme of events and activities that meet the needs of targeted audiences.

Salary: £23,656 to £24,027 per annum, £4,475 to £ 4,545 (pro rata for part time)

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Part-time (7 hours per week) 8:50am to 4:50pm Saturdays only.

Location: Horsham Library, Lower Tanbridge Way, Horsham, RH12 1PJ

About The Job

Horsham is a busy, friendly library in a spacious building on two floors, located in the town centre close to shops and services.

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and resourceful individual, with excellent digital skills.

You will be the go-to person for customers at the library, providing high quality assistance with their questions and guiding them to other services as needed.

It's not just about the books! We are looking for someone who understands the power of community and the importance of fostering a love for reading in people of all ages. You will have the opportunity to participate in exciting library programmes.

Customer service is at the forefront of the library service, as it plays an important role in creating a vibrant and dynamic workplace. It requires flexibility, creativity, and initiative from those who work there. This could mean helping a customer log-on to the library Wi-Fi or a reading recommendation.

Saturday Assistants also support colleagues with children's activities including Saturday Singalong, Story Magic and the new construction club which will be launched shortly.

The variety of our work means that no two days are the same. We get huge job satisfaction from helping everyone who comes through our doors, and you could too!
